Banksia Scrubland 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

I love banksia shrubs, and so do our native birds, and I am loving playing with the banksia blocks.

I would love to have a garden big enough to plant heaps of Banksias, along with lots of other Aussie native plants, but at least I can design virtual quilts with masses of Aussie plants.

Wattle, Gum and Banksia 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

‘Tis the season for wattles to flower, and hay fever to spread across the nation.

Love the flowers, the sneezing not so much.

However, as inspiration for quilts they are just that, inspirational, and in this form they don’t make me sneeze.

Love this design, but at this time of the year I do not particularly like wattles as they are in flower … and get up my nose so that I am frequently sneezing!

Not that I can blame the two varieties depicted in the above designs, as they do not grow in this area of the country, but their cousins are doing their job well.

Aussie Floral Inspiration 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

Not Australian colours, but would love to see our wildflowers mutate into these colours.

I could have an Aussie coloured front garden, and a purple back garden!

Baltimore to Bourke 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

The previous post is not the only long term UFO in my Virtual Quilt pile … the original idea was to design an Australian version of a Baltimore style applique quilt, and then actually add it to the WIP pile.

I think I am getting close to what I want! And I have decided on the background fabric.
